Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) has successfully concluded a detailed assessment of rivers officially open for commercial rafting in Nepal and found them to be safe for rafting and kayaking post the April earthquake.
The assessment, conducted by NARA, found that despite some of the rivers falling within districts most affected by the quake, the rivers themselves remain open for rafting and kayaking with no severe changes or serious hazards documented. The team took several months to carefully assess all the rivers and found that there are absolutely no changes in river conditions at Bheri, Karnali and Sun Koshi rivers. Minor changes were noted at Marshyangdi, Trishuli, Seti and Tamur Rivers but deemed acceptable and safe. KaliGandaki River has settled back to normal after a landslide caused a temporary blockage in May. Bhote Koshi River was also found to be operational, despite falling within the worst hit area by the quake.
The report further states that several members of NARA and HRGAN successfully operated commercial trips during the months of October and November 2015 in various rivers.
