The government is working to lay the foundation for Second International airport (SIA) in Nijgadh of Bara within three months.
Speaking at the inauguration of Solatee Crowne Plaza's Annual Career Week on Monday, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokharel said construction of second international airport will begin after immediately after the foundation stone is laid.
The International Labor Relations Committee of parliament had directed the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation on Sunday to immediately start construction of the second international airport.
At the program, Pokharel gave a motivational speech on 'What Nepal and Nepalis Need to Do to Bring More Success in Tourism and in our Lives' to 559 hotel employees.
As part of InterContinental's Hotels Group's (IHG) commitment to give employees room to grow, Career Week is an opportunity for hotel team members to explore all the continuous learning and development options that associates can benefit from IHG and Soaltee Crowne Plaza Kathmandu and LSG Skychefs, according to the hotel.
During the program, Pokharel stressed the need to focus on religious and cultural aspects along with adventurous and leisure segment to bring more tourists. Similarly, he also urged entrepreneurs to introduce 'Zero Carbon Tourism' to promote fresh air that Nepal has. He was also for using the skill and manpower to develop remote areas by focusing on rural tourism through promotion of home-stay facilities.
"It is difficult to breathe fresh air in our neighboring countries like India, China and Bangladesh. Hence, Nepal can promote itself as a destination where one can also come for fresh air," said Pokharel.
During the week, different activities such as departmental quiz, cross departmental training, training on Harvard Management Mentor (HMM), and career management and employees will be introduced to IHG's career website employees can create and update their profile for a better chance to develop their careers in the future.
