“With the swap, customers now can avail better voice service and data connection speeds of up to 21 Mbps in the region where thousands of tourists from around the world visit every year for trekking and expeditions,” Ncell said. The telecom giant has been providing 3G services in the Everest region since 2010, catering to the needs ofcustomers who want to communicate their achievement of visiting the top of the world through VSAT link with an extended data speed of up to 3.6 Mbps.
“Enhanced capacity and microwave links ensure a seamless surfing experience to locals as well as visitors in the region. The quality of voice service too has been enhanced, making communication for locals and tourists visiting the region better.
This has made it easy to remain in contact with friends and family while far away from home,” said Milan Sharma, corporate communications expert of Ncell.
Under the enhancement effort, which is done as part of the company’s commitment to deliver the best-in-class customer experience, old VSAT sites were removed and a 99-km-long microwave link was established. Solar back-up systems ensure that the world’s highest 3G sites operated by Ncell are clean and environment-friendly.
According to the company, the announcement of the network enhancement in the Everest region follows Ncell’s new drive to provide top mobile data speed to its customers. As part of this drive, Ncell modernized its network in the Kathmandu Valley last November. This has enabled customers to enjoy data speeds of up to 21 Mbps.
Apart from the Kathmandu Valley and the Everest region, Ncell will be enhancing its network in other parts of the country to provide better quality service and high-speed wireless data connectivity, it said in a statement.
